What is the Baroque organ?

The Baroque organ is a piping organ built in a certain style and certain specifications during the Baroque era. This period lasted from 1685 to 1750. During this time, there were many innovations in art, music and architecture and the design of the organ authority changed dramatically, increasing its size, strength and musical range. Well -known Baroque composers such as Johann Sebastian Bach in Germany

Baroque music was highly decorated and richly textured. The Baroque organ was most often associated with religious music, it was much stronger than its predecessors from the Renaissance. It was often used as a solo tool or part of the "Grosso concert", two or more solo instruments accompanied by an orchestra. Bach's st. Matthews Passion , using the two organs of the composition, was written in 1727 and is considered one of the championships -western sacred music.

As developed during the Baroque period, the body has become 'Diax "or full organ. For example, Italian pipe in full size could have up to 600 pipes and contain more than 2000 parts. Some of the largest organs created over this period have thousands of pipes and up to seven manuals or keyboards connected to organ pipelines. Part and tool.

, along with its size enlargement, the Baroque organ underwent many technical innovations. Cooperation, such as this between Bach and Master Organ Builder Gottfried Silbermann, has helped bring some changes. Silbermann built bodies for use throughout Europe.

A significant change was the increase in the number and design of organs and arrangement of manuals and pipes. The “stop” organ releases pressure air to the pipeline and the organist could turn on or off. The stops began to be designed to imitate the sounds of other instruments. The number was also increased, which allowed a huge wayat a range of sounds.

Separate foot keyboards, composed of pedals, have been extended to allow greater sound control. The tubes were arranged in the stands. Each stand corresponded to a different playground, wood and volume.

Many innovations of the Baroque organ is still used to this day. The surviving authorities are considered art works and many of them are exhibited in museums. Some of the designs were re -created for modern use.
