What is a cloudy leopard?

Leopard is not a real leopard, although it is related to leopards, as well as tigers, lions and panthers. It has a similar designation to a leopard, but it is much smaller. Clouded leopards are inhabited only by Borneo, Sumatra and several countries in Southeast Asia. There is little known about the behavior of the cloudy leopard, but scientists have been studying overcast leopards for some time in captivity. The physiology of cloudy leopards has evolved to allow specialized tree climbing skills. They inhabit dry wooded areas, tropical rainforests and the Himalayan foot. Cloudy leopards can be found in Borneo, Thailand, China and Nepal.

Diffuse cloud spot pattern of the cloudy leopard gives this wild cat the name. Males of cloudy leopards weigh up to £ 50 (23 kg), while women are closer to £ 35 (16 kg). These cats have the same siszed body and tail, each in a length of about 3 feet (0.9 m). Cloudy leopards have unusually long dog teeth, proportionally longer than any other modern carnivore. Due to the unusual STRUktura skull of the cloudy leopard some scientists theorized that a cloudy leopard may have genetic links to the saber tiger.

In addition to the unique skull structure, the cloudy leopard has several physical differences from other large cats. Its highly joint ankle joints, short, robust legs and wide paws allow this arboreal cat to climb trees better than any other cat. Cloudy leopards can descend the first head of the tree and even walk or keep upside down from the limbs. Experts on wild animals originally thought that cloudy leopards used these skills to hunt in trees, but now they generally agree that most hunting is done on the ground. Cloudy leopards usually sleep or rest in trees during the day.

Little is known about the behavior of cloudy leopards in the wild because they are lonely and secret in their forest habitats. A study of prisoners clouddEs showed that this species is usually sexually mature up to the age of 2 years. Attempts to reproduce cloudy leopards have encountered mixed success, because the gender tends to fight, often ending with the death of women. When breeding is successful, women have up to five young young people after a three -month period of pregnancy. The chicks remain with their mother until the age of 10 months.

Although there is no exact number of population, wildlife experts generally believe that cloudy leopards are at risk. It is believed that extensive losses of habitats and illegal poaching to obtain the cloudy Leopard's Pelt have caused a significant decline in the wild population.
