What is Pirarucu?
Piraucu is a huge freshwater fish that is originally from the Amazon River in South America. These fish can potentially grow to more than 14 feet (4.2 meters), but it takes many years to reach this size, and excess fishing has brought maximum size in the current population closer to 10 feet (3.0 meters). They are also heavy fish weighing up to £ 500 (226 kg) or even more. The fish is gray, with a rounded front and a flattened tail area. They have gills, but tend to live in very poor waters with extremely poor oxygen levels, and therefore it is actually air breathing, which inhale several times every hour.
people have found many ways to use these fish. Their scales are unusually large, sometimes even reaching a length of 6 inches (15 cm) and are very harsh, so people use them for sandpaper. In this way, the language of the Pirauc is also used, which actually grows from it. Were a tentic source of food for people, partly because JSOU so large and partly because the meat is supposed to have a great taste. The natives of the area usually had a hard time killing fish due to their size and toughness, but Europeans had better equipment and managed to handle them.
When hunting, Pirauc has an advantage, because there is not much oxygen in the area. It comes to the air, but other fish do not make it, so the other fish move slowly while the pirauc is moving fast. They use their gear to kill their prey by crushing it to the roof of the mouth.
Many fish species have very little involvement in increasing their young people, but this is not true for this species. Kicking nest in the mud and the woman puts eggs there, then the man will fertilize. Both the man and the female help each other to watch the eggs. They continue to grow on the hatch of eggs and will prevent infants from any attempt at predation. The man's head turns into a dark color during this time, allowing children to maskagainst his tone of the skin.
Many experts think that excessive fishing has significantly reduced the pirauc population, but the exact numbers are only a rough estimate. Local self -government in the area of the habitat were forced to create protection as preventive measures. Pirarucu was also held in captivity and some were successfully bred there.
