What is the intraperitoneal cavity?

Intraperitoneal (IP) cavity is an area inside the abdomen completely surrounded by a peritone, a thin, strong membrane that provides support to the abdominal organs. Inside this wrapping is a range of abdominal viscery. Other structures such as kidneys and bladder are on the outside, but may lie adjacent to the peritted branch. Anatomically, it may be important to distinguish between this and other areas of abdomen for activities such as patient evaluation, surgery and injection. They are supplied with a wide range of blood vessels and the connective tissue keeps them anchored on the spot. Organs including bladder, kidney and reproductive tract are located outdoors. Anatomically, structures such as kidneys are known as retroperitoneal because it lies behind the intraperitoneal cavity.

Injury of the abdominal viscera can result in leaks inside the intraperitoneal cavity, which can contribute to swelling, infection and inflammation. It is also possible to break the connective tissue and create a connection between this space and the rest of the abdomen. Cancer andFistules can push through the perit by the surrounding tissues, which potentially causes serious complications for the patient. For example, bladder cancer can pass through the membrane and into the intestines.

In surgery, the procedures of the intraperitoneal cavity require the surgeon to work over another layer of connective and protective tissue, and must take care of the patient's injury when the wound is closed. Adhesion, the belts of connective tissue that are formed where they do not belong, are particularly concerned. They may potentially interfere with the abdominal viscery and after surgery cause complications to be decisive to carefully continue to minimize scar tissue and reduce the risk to the patient. After surgery, medical imaging may be recommended to confirm that the section is healing and checking problems such as the accumulation of fluids that may not be clear from external tests.

Intraperitoneal injection or IP injection is a methodDelivery of a drug used for some medicines. It is most often used in small animals, especially animals used in research. IP injection can provide a rapid way of supplying fluids or drugs if the patient does not have suitable blood vessels. It is also used in some forms of cancer treatment in humans where the intraperitoneal cavity is actually washed in chemotherapy drugs to kill cancer cells and increase the chance of survival.
