In order to accurately measure the weight of tiny molecules, internationally, an atomic mass unit is generally used as a reference, and it is defined as 1/12 of the atomic mass of 12 elements of carbon as an atomic mass unit. [1]

One proposal that remains compelling to this day is "Dalton" as a synonym for the unified atomic mass unit. There are many precedents for the SI unit to use the name of some inventors as the first letter of the name, but "u" is not an SI unit. It is actually not customary to designate the name as Dalton.
