Thermal power, steel, cement, electrolytic aluminum, coal, metallurgy, chemicals, petrochemicals, building materials, papermaking, brewing, pharmaceuticals, fermentation, textiles, tanning and mining industries are 16 heavily polluting industries. Such listed companies shall release annual environmental reports and regularly disclose environmental information on pollutant discharge, environmental compliance, and environmental management.
In addition, the "List of Classified Management of Environmental Protection Industry of Listed Companies" (Huanban Han [2008] No. 373) also stipulates the 16 heavily polluting industries included in the Guide. According to the "Decision of the Ministry of Environmental Protection on the Abolishment of Regulations and Regulatory Documents of Certain Environmental Protection Departments" [1] issued by the Ministry of Environmental Protection on July 13, 2016, the "Classification Management List of Environmental Protection Inspection Industry of Listed Companies" was declared abolished.
These 16 industries involve approximately 575 listed companies, accounting for 29.5% of the total 1,947 listed companies in the two cities.
