What is a conical biopsy?

Biopsy is to remove a small tissue sample from a live person. This tissue is then examined to determine the cause of the disease, illness or abnormalities. The cone biopsy is a specialized procedure used almost exclusively on cervical tissues when a more standard biopsy guarantees further exploration.

It is also called biopsy or conflict of cold knife, a cone biopsy is used for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. The steps leading to the need for biopsy begin with an abnormal parcel. Sometimes the swab of cells taken during the routine gynecological test will indicate abnormalities in cervical cells that form the first layer of cervical tissue. This is called dysplasia.

When only a few cells are abnormal, it is called mild dysplasia and is not considered a serious problem, but mild and severe dysplasia can indicate precancerous and cancer. When the initial biopsy suggests more serious dysplasia, the cone biopsy allows doctors to remove a convenient wedge of tissue higher in uterine noípku than traditional biopsy procedures. The aim is to remove abnormal cells along with some normal cells on the edge of dysplastic tissue to ensure that all abnormal cells in the area are removed. The tissue is then examined, but if all abnormal cells have been removed in the cone biopsy and suspicion of any other signs of abnormality, this in itself serves as a treatment.

Biopsy of the cones does not require a hospital stay. This is usually an outpatient procedure and patients receive either anesthesia to keep them unconscious during the procedure, or the area will be completely dull. Like a regular gynecological test, patients will lie on the table and place their feet in the stirrups. The speculum opens the vaginal area and allows the doctor to use the scalpel to remove the tissue cone from the cervix. Outchilding is then quilted or cauterized.

Alternatively, another procedure called Electro can be usedSurgical excision procedure loop (Leep). Leep uses a very thin, very hot wire to cut cervical tissue. This can be done in the physician's office by anesthetic cervical cervix and administration of intravenous or oral pain drugs.

Another option for performing a cone biopsy is carbon dioxide laser (CO 2 laser). It is an intense beam of light, which not only cuts tissue, but also sterilizes and seals tissue during removal. Laser procedures may shorten the healing time, but only the doctor can determine which procedure is more suitable for each individual case.
