What is aplasia?
Aplasia can be freely switched from Greek as "not formation". This definition makes no sense without further details, what is not formation or not done. What Applasia actually means in a medical sense is born without an organ or other body tissue or is born without a process that creates the necessary elements in the body, such as red blood cells. These shortcomings are very often incredibly serious; The missing brain or heart is fatal. Other times, the aplasia of certain species can be solved by medical intervention or there is no need to compensate for a missing element.
There must be two differences about aplasia. It is very different than being born than it is to own something and lose it degeneration. Any form of waste of disease that causes a non -functional or gradual deterioration of the organ is usually called atrophy .
Even a non-medical community can be more familiar with terms such as hyper- and hypoplasia . You match too much or too mouno from something that is created or created. The hypoplastic left heart is a failure of the left ventricle in the heart fully formed, so it is very undersized and usually broken. On the other hand, cardiac aplasia would not mean any heart at all, which cannot be survived.
While aplasia always sounds fatal, it is not. There are many cases where children are born with an aplastic organ and where they can lead a relatively healthy life. For example, children may miss the kidney or spleen. In the former case, one healthy kidney can maintain life and in the other, using prophylactic antibiotics to prevent serious infections, is generally the most effective treatment. It is more serious if the missing organ or structure performs a function that cannot be fully replaced, but also in these cases, doctors are sometimes able to use other parts of the body to create what is missing.
It is important to realize that this term does not only concern absentOrgan organs, but with other body structures. Some children do not have all lymph nodes that are expected, others have failures to keep hair cells growing to specific areas or to fully cover the body. Other children are born without the ability to produce body substances such as sperm or red blood cells. Each missing type receives their own treatment and some conditions that are not fully repairable, such as the inability to produce sperm, are likely to endanger life.
The causes of applications are not always known. Sometimes the status of the manifesto has a clear link to inheritance. Other times, while the missing element is based on genetic errors, there is no proposal for a family history or the probability of re -occurrence of siblings or descendants of a person with a condition.
