What Is Distal Colitis?

Active ulcerative colitis (UC) has been treated with medication and has reached remission, and all patients require maintenance therapy (except for patients with initial disease and complete remission of mild distal colitis). The goal of maintenance therapy is to maintain clinical and endoscopic relief without the need for glucocorticoids. Because the patient's condition, lesion location and treatment response are different, different drugs and methods of use must be selected for maintenance treatment.
