What is gigantism?
Gigantism is a child disorder that causes a child to grow much more than its peers and develops an unusually large size. There are some complications that may be associated with gigantism, leading most people to decide to handle it, even if they are not interested in the unusual figure the patient will eventually acquire. Treatment of gigantism can be very successful in most cases.
This condition is relatively rare. This is usually caused by a benign tumor placed on the pituitary gland. The tumor triggers increased production of human growth hormone (HGH), leading to an increased size. Bones will grow longer and heavier, and hands and feet will also be noticeably larger than usual. People with gigantism can develop a delayed puberty, cardiovascular problems and other endocrine problems in connection with hormone imbalances in the body. A similar background and shows no signs of slowing. Medical Display Studies usually reveal a tumor and blood contains elevated HGH levels and can betray other changes in Horm levelsthose, depending on the cause of the state.
Surgery to remove tumor is highly effective treatment. If surgery is not a possibility, medicines can be used to suppress human growth hormone production and slowness of growth speed. Patients who have undergone surgery may require hormone exchange if it is necessary to remove the entire pituitary, and must usually be monitored for a lifetime for any signs of hormonal imbalances.
When a patient is diagnosed with gigantism, the physician may discuss available treatment options and provide treatment recommendations to solve the patient's case. If gigantism is caused by something else non -hypotor, a tumor, other treatment options can be considered.
If growth hormone levels begin to appear after the growth inserts in the bones are joined, the patient develops a condition known as acromegaly. In Akromegaly, instead of getting enlarged, PA is experiencingClient deformity of bones, because the body is trying to grow, but bones are not flexible enough to allow it. Acromegaly can cause significant deformities of the face, hands and legs and is also associated with other endocrine changes that can create complications for the patient.
