What is hydronephrosis?

Hydronephrosis is a health condition characterized by the kidney's disorder caused by the accumulation of urine that cannot be evacuated through the bladder. This condition can be quite dangerous and can also cause a number of health problems, including long -term kidney atrophy due to stretching caused by hydronephrosis. There are a number of causes together with the assortment of therapeutic approaches. This can be caused by structural abnormality, urinary tract compression or kidney movement, causing the development of breaking, similar to breaking in the hose. Obstruction, such as tumors and kidney stones, are also a common cause of hydronephrosis. Whatever the cause is, the urine slowly begins to associate in the kidneys, which eventually causes it to spread the pressure of the fluid inside.

This state can be characterized as one -sided, which means that one kidney or bilateral is involved, in which case both kidneys are affected. Bilateral hydronephrosis tends to cause more serious symptoms, toTeré includes reduced urination, pain and sensitivity in the abdomen. In extreme cases, the kidney may be so swollen that it is tangible in physical examination.

In acute hydronephrosis, blocking and swelling occurs rapidly, causing rapid onset of symptoms. Chronic hydronephrosis takes longer to develop into a serious problem, and may be caused by partial blockage, which simply slows down the kidney drainage rather than stopping. Both require medical attention to be able to block and repair.

Medical imaging, such as ultrasound, can often detect the situation of hydronephrosis, and the physician can also use urine samples and blood work to test kidney function. Catheterization and invasive processes can be performed in an effort to determine the cause and clean the blockade. In some cases, surgery may be required to remedy the problem that has caused hydronephrosis while in other casesIt is possible to remove blocking with less invasive techniques.

If something like a tumor causes hydronephrosis, further treatment may be needed to prevent repetition. The kidneys may also need supportive therapy if the condition is treated for a longer period of time, and treatment such as dialysis is used to provide the kidneys with a chance to recover.
