What is the pulmonary aspiration?
lung aspiration occurs when a person inaches a foreign substance into the lungs. There are many things that can be accidentally inhaled instead of being expected to be expected. The possibilities include food, drinks and medicines. In some cases, however, this problem causes mucus, and one can even aspire saliva. Unfortunately, lung aspirations are not harmless; often causes suffocation. This may even lead to a potentially serious lung infection that is referred to as aspiration pneumonia.
When a person swallows food, liquid, medication or any other substance, he usually begins to walk through the esophagus and stomach. Unfortunately, the substances that get into the mouth are not always monitored by the normal path through the digestive system. Sometimes a foreign substance enters the trachea, which instead leads to the lungs.
The person of the person is placed in front of his esophagus. This placement makes it easier for foreign substances to get into the lungs instead of the stomach. Usually there is a pulmonary aspiration when coordinated breathing and swallowing a person is interrupted or disturbed.Normally, one breathes at the same time when he swallows. Sometimes, however, the automatic coordination of these events is discarded by something as simple as laughter while eating or drinking.
In addition to inopportune laughter, there are a number of problems that can lead to pulmonary aspiration. They include breathing disorders, gastroesophageal reflux diseases and defects that affect the throat. A person may also have this problem due to a disorder that affects the nervous system such as multiple sclerosis. In some cases, medicines and surgery may cause or contribute to the pulmonary aspiration. In addition, people have impaired coughing due to some type of health problem, they can be particularly prone to pulmonary aspiration.
Unfortunately, there is no treatment of lung aspirations, but there are steps that one can take to prevent it. For example, a person can avoid speaking or laughter, kdy you or drink. It can also perform a language exercise and try to swallow only when they hold their head down or lean your head to one side. Sometimes it may prove useful, sometimes it can also be thickening fluids or inserting smaller amounts of food in the mouth. If lung aspiration leads to pneumonia, doctors usually prescribe antibiotics to treat it.
