The
Rake Cuton is a tool specifically designed for digging and collecting clams that plunged into the sand or mud of the ocean bottom in tids or on the shells of farms. The clams toys come in different sizes and the tips may vary in number, spacing, length and design. Usually the cut of the clam is made of steel and looks similar to a normal rake, although the rake of clams usually have a shorter handle and longer spikes that are wider, more knife shape and sometimes curved. Some types of clams also have a metal basket attached to the back of the rake to hold the clam when they are dug. Examples of different designs of the cliff are: Harves Houses that have large open baskets; Bull rake that has a more closed holding basket; and the scratches of chatham that do not have a connected basket. Longer and wider spikes are more advantageous when digging in hard sand nebobahno than when digging in a softer material. The toys of the clam is used by pulling the tips over the top layer. When the clams are found, the tips are tilted below itrake and is accumulated and either gathered in the basket on clams, or placed in a holding container like a bucket.
