What is the flange?

The term flange describes several structural properties used to strengthen, guide or connect to a wide range of elements. Examples of strengthening flanges include projections on the steel beam I, while one of the best examples of the VODIČKA flange is the flat, vertical edge of the train wheel. The joint flanges are represented by an extensive selection of mechanisms for connecting pipes and cylinders.

The flanges are widely used by structural elements in a large number of industries. Essentially internal or external ribs or rims can be used as a fitness member, guide or indexing element or as a method of joining system parts such as pipes, tanks, valves and drawn boards. The flanges cast as part of structural steel members such as both rays and T are integral elements that give rays rigidity and linear force. Looking in the cross -section, the horizontal upper and lower beams of the beam are elements that strengthen the beam against bending.

The flange guides are usually also occupied as integral parts, whose best examples are rims of cranes and trains. These wheels are manufactured as a horizontally oriented cylindrical bearing element with a flat, vertical flange at one end. The vertical element acts as a guide to prevent excessive side movement, which could cause the horizontal bearing surface of the wheel to leave the rail. The guides of the flange are also integrated at both ends of the cylinders into the Oriental Cables of Crane and Reels or towing ropes.

Certainly one of the largest flange groups is used to connect to system elements or to add auxiliary equipment to the pipeline. These joints are usually observed on tanks, pipes and cylinders of pressure vessels and usually consist of flat circular plates on both elements that are joined together to form non -performance, liquid or gas joint. Auxiliary equipment, such as valves, drawn boards, meters and dispensers, have the same flanges, allowing them to connect and remove from the system quickly.

Some joint flanges use a combination of adhesive and screw methods to produce joints. Plumbing fittings, such as toilet cabinet flanges, are a good example of these types of flanges. These flange variants can be made of plastic such as ABS and PVC, exclusively or have a combination of plastic and steel parts. In these cases, the plastic part of the flange is attached to a pipeline of a similar material with a suitable glue and steel plates used to mechanically screw the parts together.
