What is the seal?
lips seal is a passive mechanical device used to seal the shaft output points on electric motors and other rotary and reciprocal output machines. The seals are designed to secrete dust and moisture from the internal mechanisms of the machine, with a minimum or no negative effect on their performance. Most lip seals are made up of a solid outer shell that statically connects to the machine cover, and a flexible inner element that forms a dynamic seal on a movable shaft. The rigid part of the seal is usually made of metal or hard plastic in light and flexible parts from different rubber stages. Some lips seals have another spring wound into a flexible rubber element that provides additional pressure around the shaft and ensures the integrity of the seal.
Most rotary or reciprocal machines have a closed internal mechanism that controls the shaft used to transmit work. In most cases, the shaft passes through the cover of one or both ends.Although these output points are necessary, they also allow moisture and dust to enter the mantle if they are not sealed. Since most of these machines are naturally sensitive, this situation is not desirable. However, the sealing of rapidly rotary or reciprocation shaft without the addition of disproportionate friction is not the average power, especially when the wear of the resulting rough, uneven surfaces is taken into account.
This engineering quandary is a place where the seal comes to your own. These seals have a circular shape, with a hole in the center slightly smaller than the shaft. They are designed to fit into the machine's end shields and create static dust and humidity at the intersection of seals and shield. The design of the lips seals requires a two -piece construction, namely a strict outer part that pushes into the end shield, and the inner part sufficiently flexible to suit the movable shaft. This is generally achieved by creating a cup of steel or rigid plastic on a light meter and then chemically or mechanically connecting a soft, flexible rubber skirt along the shaft opening. This skirt is strong enough to put sufficient pressure on the shaft to eliminate dust and moisture, but flexible enough to adapt to the wear on the shaft surface and not evaluate the power of the machine. In some cases, the flexible skirt on the lips will contain an integral compartment into which a circular screw spring is inserted, which further helps the shaft seal.
