What is Groundwater Pollution?

Groundwater pollution (ground water pollution) mainly refers to the phenomenon that human activities cause the groundwater to change its chemical composition, physical properties, and biological characteristics, resulting in a decline in quality.

More than half of urban groundwater is seriously polluted [4]
With the rapid development of industrial production, the problem of groundwater pollution in China has become increasingly prominent, and the impact of groundwater pollution on the environment and economic development has become increasingly apparent. To this end, the necessary monitoring must be carried out, and once contamination of groundwater is found, measures should be taken in a timely manner.
1 Enterprises and institutions are prohibited from using infiltration wells, pits, cracks and karst caves to discharge and dump waste water containing toxic pollutants, sewage containing pathogens and other waste.
2 In stratums without good permeability, enterprises and institutions are prohibited from using ditches, pits, etc. without leakage prevention measures to transport or store wastewater containing toxic pollutants, sewage containing pathogens, and other waste.
3 When mining multiple layers of groundwater, if the water quality of each aquifer is very different, it should be mined in layers; for contaminated diving and confined water, no mixed mining is allowed.
4 When constructing underground engineering facilities or underground exploration and mining activities, protective measures shall be taken to prevent groundwater pollution.
5 Artificial recharge to recharge groundwater shall not deteriorate the quality of groundwater.
6. Physically change the location of the waste, usually by transporting it to a hazardous waste landfill. [1]
7. Dispose of waste to reduce its toxicity and mobility, or to reduce the possibility of further release of pollutants from the site. [1]
