What is an investment cast?

Also known as the casts of lost wax, investment casting is an industrial process used to create metal parts with great detail, which would be difficult or impossible to achieve by other casting methods. Investment casting uses a pattern that is destroyed as part of the process, thus investing in a finished product. This process is the oldest known process of casting used by a person and the original formulas of investment casting were made using beeswax.

Investment cast is one of the most basic techniques of metal creation. It is a multi -stage process that provides fine details at a reasonable price. The costs of investment castings are considered minimal compared to other forms of full month of casting or casting. The main pattern is essentially the prototype of the part to be made. This main formula is then converted into mold or master die that Might is made of metal steel wood or rubber. After cooling, wax patterns are assembled in preparation for lITI. During this phase, wax patterns can also be persecuted and dressed, remove flashes and any other imperfections on the pattern surface using a heated tool.

Investment, a ceramic form that will be destroyed after casting is formed by immersing the wax pattern in the investment media or by placing the wax pattern in the flask and pouring the investment media around it. The investment is then dried and hardened before the dewax, subjected to the burnout process and preheat for the pouring process. The burnout process will undergo an investment in extreme heat that removes all trace humidity or wax residues that could disrupt the pouring professionals. Preheating warms investment mold in preparation for the casting process so that the molten metal remains in its liquid form longer and fills any small detailed areas.

The next step into the investment cast is poured out of meltedMetal in investment form. The mold is located, cup up, sand in the bathtub and then filled with molten metal. The flow of this metal is usually fed by gravity, but may be under pressure in cases where the thin parts of the mold cause gravitational feeding pouring inefficient.

After metal and investment form can cool down, the finished product is obtained. This is done by destroying the investment form using one of several means. Common methods of destruction of investment form are a hammer, media blasting, high -pressure washing, vibration and chemical baths that dissolve investment mold.
