What happens after the results of positive skin tuberculosis?
Positive results of skin test tuberculosis do not necessarily indicate that a person has active tuberculosis or is contagious. Further tests will include chest X -ray and overview of its symptoms. Depending on these results, additional tests and treatment may be required.
To understand what happens after the result of positive tuberculosis (TB) of the skin test, it is important to know what the TB test is. During the PPD test, also known as the Mantoux test, a small amount of tuberculosis - called tuberculines - is being injected under the skin. The place of injection is examined between 48 and 72 hours after injection to check the increased skin area known as induration. If the skin test is positive, it means that the person has a reaction to bacteria that cause tuberculosis. This is not necessary means that a person has symptoms or active diseaseeating.
If the results of positive skin tuberculosis appear, the first arranged test is usually chest X -ray. X -ray can determine whether infiltrates or lesions are present in the lungs, which may indicate active TB. Usually, a control list of symptoms will also be reviewed to determine whether TB signs such as weight loss, cough, fever and night sweats are present. If the chest X -ray is normal and no symptoms are present, no further testing is usually required.
In some cases, people can be without active TB, but who have positive test results, for treatment. Bacteria that cause TB can show up with a positive skin test but may be sleeping. Medicines can be given as preventive measures to make bacteria active in the future.
When the chest X -ray indicates tb or symptoms, a person can have active tuberculosis. At this timeThe sputum samples will need to be analyzed to confirm the presence of bacteria. The person will also have to be kept out of close contact with other people to prevent the spread of the disease. If the TB is present, the treatment of antibiotics will be treated.
Once a person has a positive tuberculosis test, he is likely to have positive tests in the future. PPD leather tests are a routine requirement for some types of employment and admission to school. In people with a history of PPD's positive skin test, an annual control list of symptoms is usually performed instead.
