What is pyloroplasty?
pyloroplasty is a surgery in which the pylorus muscle is operated, which controls the stomach emptying, making it easier to throw the stomach content into the duodenum. There are several reasons why pyloroplasty can be performed. The procedure is performed in the operating room with the patient under general anesthesia and can be performed openly or laparoscopically depending on the situation. Laparoscopic surgery becomes common because the risks to the patient as well as the healing time are radically reduced compared to open operations. When the muscle is thickened, the opening narrows in a state known as pyloric stenosis. This causes problems with emptying the stomach, while pyloroplasty is the recommended treatment of pyloric stenosis. One of the most common causes is peptic or gaon diseases of ulcers, and pyloroplasty is considered after other treatments does not work or when patients experience a recurrent painful reflux.
Another reason to perform pyloroplasty is vagotomy. In the vagotomy procedure, part of the vagus nerve is interrupted to reduce the production of stomach acid, usually for solving acid reflux and related problems such as stomach ulcers. However, this may also lead to delayed stomach emptying, which may worsen the problem for the patient. In these cases, pyloroplasty will help the stomach effectively empty and prevent complications after vagotomy. Both procedures are sometimes performed simultaneously.
This procedure can also be performed if the pylorus blocking and inhibiting its function occurs. Whether benign or not, the matter can delay the emptying of the stomach and cause complications for the patient. During pyloroplasty, matter can also be removed so as not to grow.
As well as all operations, operations to expand the pyloric sphincter can be accompanied by complications. General anesthesia exposes people a number of risks associated with usedAnesthetics and patients may also be threatened by infections, stomach or intestine damage, and other problems that may occur during surgery. The risks of complications may be reduced by work with highly experienced surgical team and will take time to go through a medical history and potential risks before the procedure. It is also very suitable to use a surgeon with a board certification in a hospital with a good reputation.
