What is the sea lion?

There are six known sea lion species in the Pinnipeds Family Otarieidae. These mammals differ from most of the seals with their visible ears, long front fins and the ability to walk with sausages like limbs. Sea sea lions are found in the oceans around the world and some will even swim far inland through the coastal river systems.

California sea lion is one of the largest types of marine mammals in the world with an estimated population of almost 200,000 animals. Adult men who are generally somewhat larger than their partnership can grow to 8 ft (2.4 m) long and can weigh up to £ 860 (390 kg.) Often you can find this species in naval parks that appear at exhibitions because they are quite intelligent and easily carnable. During the season of mating at the beginning of summer, animals gather in a huge number along the North American west coast and engage in the mating of the battle and keep young puppies.

The largest of all types of sea lions is the star sea lion norththe Pacific Ocean. These animals are born of more than £ 50 (23 kg) and adult bull men can reach £ 2500 (1100 kg) under 5 years. The Stellar SEA Lions are mostly around Alaska, where experts have noticed a surprising and inexplicable decline in the population since the end of the 20th century. Many observers believe that the competition for food supplies with fishermen has damaged the natural diet of marine lions, which has led to their decreasing numbers around the Aleut Islands. Since 1990 they have been threatened under the laws of the US Act on endangered species of 1973.

The Australian sea lion is unique to the waters surrounding Australia and in the 18th century it was hunted by almost extinction by European settlers. In 1972, the Australian government passed the law on national parks and wilderness, which protected several species, including the decreasing Mořelvi, who have since seen rebound numbers. Studies indicate that this species has an unusual breeding cycle of 18 months and women return to the bendthat they were born to give birth.

In South America, sea lions are born very dark brown or black, and as they age slowly lighten color. Men grow the lion's fur mane and have a inverted snout. The South American sea lions have been hard to hunt for centuries, but are now largely protected by local laws. Often the prey is the orcs, leopard seals and occasional coastal bombs. The sea lions themselves are qualified predators and have been observed that the penguins consume.

As in California, Galapagos Sea Lochtans are known for their large pairing communities that can consist of one bull and up to thirty cows. While these animals are protected by local law, extensive poaching has become a problem in the 21st century. In 2001, the bachelor colony was 35 men, showing the apparent signs that hunters had removed their teeth and body parts. More mysteriously, in 2008 53 animals were found including 13 pups.

Japanese sea lionHe was somewhat larger than their California cousins and lived in caves and on the sandy beaches along the Japanese coast. They were hunted to extract in the 1950s after huge meat and fur hunting. In 2007, several nearby nations began to search for all the remaining live samples to start the re -introduction program.

sea lions are extremely important members of the ocean ecosystems, and, like most predators, it helps to maintain sustainable populations of other animals. While some species, such as the California family, maintain extremely healthy populations, others are at risk of competing fishermen, pollution and climate change problems. Galapagos and South American species were seriously affected by the weather El Niño Patterns at the end of the 20th century, providing evidence that serious climate problems can significantly affect the survival of species. You want to help preserve different types, consider donation or volunteering at a reputable nature conservation agency or using only biolOgically degradable and ecological products.
