What is seaweed?

Seagrass is an unusual example of a completely water -sea flowering plant. It grows on large meadows in the areas of shallow water and provides habitats of numerous species of all phylls, including macro -ranges of wild and microjess, bristle worms, molluscs, non -atodes and many fish, especially white spotted. Its green meadows are either monospecific (containing one type) or multispecific (many). Mild meadows are more often dominated by one or several species, while tropical meadows, like those in the Philippines, can have up to 13 or more. It is estimated that there are about 60 types of seaweed around the world. Seagrass is a relatively recent evolutionary innovation that has developed from plants resistant to salt water, especially mangroves, which is considered to be its immediate predecessors. Sea eyelashes probably do not exist about 60 million years ago, shortly after the extinction of dinosaurs, but since then it has spread to most of the mild and tropical coast of the world. Surprisingly, sea grass is considered to be part of “grewin land ”because it has evolved and has much more in common with land plants than algae from which ground plants developed about 450 million years ago.

Like real grass, seaweed has a relatively low nutritional content, which means that only specially modified animals can eat it, but recent findings have determined that seaweed is more often consumed than once thoughts. In fact, it is probably the basis of the food chain for hundreds of species. Drugongs, manatees, swans, fish, geese, sea hedgehogs and crabs were observed to eat seaweed. Although the species of the animal cannot directly consume sea grass, it can be able to consume other eases that feed on the seaweed.

Seagrass is an example of a group called "ecosystem engineers" such as Coral because they significantly modify their surrounding environment, attract certain species and discourage others. SeaweedIt lines water currents and promotes the accumulation of sedimentation, which can serve as a shelter for a small creature with a bottom. The seaweed has an extraordinary speed of primary production, which means it converts sunlight and nutrients into biomass more efficiently than most other sea plants.
