What is a voice box?

Voice box is a common term for mammal larynx, a structure located in the neck that serves more functions. Only mammals have voice folds in the larynx, commonly called vocal chords. These are responsible for the ability of mammals to sing and speak to a person. The human voice box is located on the upper front of the neck and consists of cartilage, connective tissue, mucosa and muscle. In addition to the vocalization, a voice box works to maintain open airways and prevent food from cross -section into the trachea.

nine cartilage form the structure of the larynx, six in pairs and three single. The connective tissues are joined and muscles are connected. The mucous membranes form a continuous lining from the mouth and the pharynx above the larynx over the bronchi extending towards the lungs. After puberty, the male larynx becomes significantly larger than the woman and makes Adam's apple on the front of man. The focused frame of the larynx is voice folds that are made of two strong bonds and are responsible for the production of sound.

serving as a guard in the lower airways, the main function of the voice cabinet is to provide a safe and open pass for air. During breathing, the passage remains open and the epiglottis and vocal folds open openly. When eating, epiglottis closes at the top of the larynx, as well as voice folds to ensure that the food does not go into the airways and causes suffocation. Vocalization is produced by complex interactions between larynx, lungs and chest and nose and mouth. Unique to people is made up of these interactions with vocal folds creating tones of voice.

Healthy larynx has white vocal folds that meet symmetrically in the middle of the larynx, while the rest of the voice box is a healthy pink color. This is in the contrast of the larynx that is ill. One of the most common disorders is the presence of nodes or polyps on vocal folds. These nodes prevent a complete encounter of voice folds, giving the voice of the drsor a hoarse sound when air escapes. The larynx surgery can fix the knots and some other voice box problems.

other problems with the larynx include polyps of vocal bending, which are more common in men and also prevent a symmetrical encounter of vocal chords, giving voice to hoarse or hoarse sound. Laryngitis is the swelling of the larynx and disrupts the production of vocalization. It may be temporary during a cold or flu or chronic smoking or abuse of voice folds. In vocal folds, it is often thin as aging, causing the gaps between them and a change in vocalization. Another problem is larynx cancer, the primary cause of which is considered to be chronic use of tobacco and alcohol.
