What is the rectum?

Anus is part of the digestive tract. It is an opening at the opposite end of the tract from the mouth and it works to exclude waste from the digestive system. The term comes from the Latin word for "circle" or "ring" and refers to the muscles of the sphincter that controls the opening and closure of the rectum.

Regular cleaning is good to maintain a healthy digestive tract, although cleaning with harsh materials can cause painful irritation.
