What is the lateral hypothalamus?
Side hypothalamus is part of the hypothalamus located in the center of the brain that controls hunger, thirst and emotions. Neurons in this area respond to signals of other areas of the brain and send signals to different areas. They are also in close proximity to blood supply and can be affected by factors such as blood glucose levels. Glucostatic receptors induce a response in the lateral hypothalamus, resulting in neuron burning, creating a feeling of hunger. On the other hand, the media hypothalamus reduces heart rate and blood pressure and sends signals to eliminate the feeling of hunger, so that both hypothalamic structures serve as against each other. Cirkadian cycles are also regulated by release of melatonin in the hypothalamus and pituitary. Changes in the lateral area may have an impact on sleep, depression and appetite and lead to depressive conditions such as seasonal affective disorder (SAD). Hormones are excreted during digestion to follow the digestive organs, and during this process are other hormones releaseIt eats a lonely tract, the structure of the brain stem, which is reflected in the hypothalamus. The osmoreceptors in the lateral hypothalamus help to determine whether the water is needed or not.
It seems that the function of lateral hypothalamus and its projection to other areas of the brain suggests that it has a strong effect on reward and motivation. Activation of neurons is associated with allusions related to food or drug reception. The search for rewards and drug addiction is strongly related to the activity in the lateral sections. The hypothalamus as a whole seeks to create a balance in the body and its activity is mainly reflex. Hunger, emotions and pleasure are just a few things that work as needed, and also serves to induce the need to escape dangerous or unpleasant conditions. The side hypothalamus is strongly influenced by various metabolic processes and has a direct effect on emotional states and hunger. Damage may result in extreme depression or rage attacksAnd aggression can be completely defended if the side part is destroyed. The stimulation of appetite is also eliminated and starvation may occur if the problem is not repaired.
