What is a musclocutaneous nerve?

Muscutaneous nerve is part of a network of nerves called brachial plexus. It serves the muscles of the biceps and the skin on the forearm side. The brachial plexus is the main arrangement of the nerve fibers that runs from the spine, under the fifth uterine vertebra in the throat, to the first thoracic vertebra in the middle of the back. The musclocut nerve continues through the neck and armpits to end in the arm. Big nerves facilitate motor and sensory functions, while small nerves perform one or the other. The musclocutaneous nerve provides the sensory and motor function to the muscle groups it connects. At the bottom of the arm, however, its function is only sensory. As it approaches its end, the musclocut nerve becomes the side skin nerve of the forearm.

damage to the musclocutaneous nerve may be due to compressing, stretching or separation. Minor damage can cause a weakness in the biceps muscle and the inability to bend the arm. The patient may also experience some numbness in the elbow area. If this particular nerve is interrupteda lot of damage. In the worst case, the patient loses the feeling of a small lane of the skin and will have problems with bending and straightening the arm.

The nerve may be clamped or compressed when a patient with a skeletal or joint problem stretches the affected area. Another common place for compression is the point in which the nerve leaves the spinal cord through the backbone column and vertebrae. Depending on where it is clamped and on what root the patient with a tight nerve can experience various symptoms such as numbness, armor and burning.

The cervical spine, which is located in the throat, consists of seven discs and seven -constructions, called C1 via C7. Every nerve is rooted in the spinal cord on various discs. Nerve roots for musclocutaneous nerve are located in C5, C6 and C7. A clenched nerve on C5 can cause problems with bending biceps. In C6, a pinch can cause a weakness in the arm and thumb that can be accompanied by numbness. Pinch7 And the whole arm down to the middle finger can experience numbness.

The carpal tunnel is a space in the wrist where tendons and middle nerve pass to the fingers. The carpal tunnel syndrome is due to the compression of nerves in the wrist area. It may be difficult for a doctor to isolate where the nerve is compressed, clamped or otherwise irritated. For example, a musclocutaneous nerve can catch on the elbow joint and some symptoms can be easily confused with the carpal tunnel syndrome.
