What is a nanogenerator?

The nanogenerator is any nanoparticle device used to generate performance. Usually this would mean dimensions smaller than microns (1000 nanometers or 1/1000. Milimeter), but in practice the word was used to describe generators as large as 2 mm or a diameter of 2,000 nanometers. Alternatively, there may be any generator that uses nanoparticles such as Nanowire, to produce electricity.

So far, the term "nanogenerator" was mainly used in connection with the work of Zhong Lin Wang and colleagues Georgia Technology. Wang's team built a nanogenerator that uses a number of zinc-oxide nanoparticles to convert ultrasonic waves into electricity. The nanogenerator uses the piezoelectric effect, the phenomenon displayed in certain materials, in which the mechanical voltage is converted directly to electric current. Wang visualizes a nanogenerator built into future nanomachins or implants that can gain strength directly from vibrations in human points caused by the circulatory system. Nanogener Prototype Dr.Wanga was 2 mm, but hopes to reduce it to nanoparticles and prepare it for adoption by 2011.

6 Work Dr. Wanga answered this question when introduced in 2007. The approach of using piezoelectrics to power Nanodevices is still just one of many - other possible approaches to energy production or distribution include chemical energy, using nanoparticles to energy on the Makroocale channel, macro -meter source, generator or generator.

Although Dr. Wang overshadowed, there was some further work in nanogenerators. Dozens, if nbs of academic and industrial groups conduct research into nanoparticles. Nanoparticle energy production can offer orders to increase in size in energy production and storage density compared to current technologies. This could allow electric cars that can run hundreds or completeThousands of kilometers without recharging if the technology progresses far enough.
