On the northwestern shore of the foamy sea lies a very young, and extremely bright, 5 km diameter burial crater. The height of the foamy sea surface is 1.6-2.1 kilometers below the lunar reference, 0.8 kilometers and 0-0.6 kilometers (measured adjacent areas) lower than the waves and rich seas, respectively.
