What is the handset?

Generally speaking, the handset concerns everything that works either by covering the ear or by hanging near the ear. In this wide category there are parts of the frame of glasses that reach over the ear, and any material specially designed to fit into the ear and block the input of sound or water. However, the most common meaning of the "headphones" is an electronic device that converts electronic signals into sound waves and directs them to the ear. In this context, the handset can also be called an electronically acoustic converter. Then the amplifiers were developed and the role of the headphone became a matter of personal preference rather than a necessity. Currently, headphones are used for comfort - where privacy is required or mobility is important. Depending on its design, the headphones can also be differently known as headphones, ear buds, stereo phones or headset.

headphones can be organized widely into two categories - cable headphones and wireless or wireless headphones. Wireless types use for PConnection to signal sources either radio wool or infrared signals. Examples are headphones for CD players, computers or mobile phones. A link to signal transmission such as Bluetooth® or Wi-Fi is used.

The wiring handset must be physically connected to the signal source. To make it easier, jacks at the end of the cables are inserted into the signal source. The size of the jack was standardized and the most common size is 3.5 millimeters (about 0.2 inches), which Sony brought to the market in 1979. Much older 1/4 inches (about 6.4 mm) is now used only in professional equipment. When connecting the stereo jacks, the tip is always the left channel, part between the right channel and the outer sleeve is ton.

The use of ear buds has a deep impact on how one perceives. This is because the handset brings the sound directly into the eardrum without the normal acoustic contours with the head of the listener and the outer earfor which normal speakers give the range. The brain, which lacks these spatial links, then imagines the sound in the straight line in the head and between the ears. This relieves the sound of its three -dimensional effect, otherwise produced by normal speakers.

Their shapes and sizes can be placed in four categories. City types with citizens have large cushions that surround the outer ear. They are most commonly used to record studies. Supra-arral headphones are suitable just above the ear without fully surrounding it. The ear buds are designed to fit into the outer ear canal. However, they do not fully cover the channel and external sounds are still heard around them. On the other hand, channel phones, the fourth category, are adjacent to the ear channel and effectively blocks external sounds.
