What is a stereo sound?
Stereo sound indicates the creation of sound using multiple sound channels. It creates an illusion of sound coming from different directions and is much more efficient in imitating the experience of natural sound than one -channel, mono audio systems. The stereo sound is usually created with a network of at least two speakers located at a regular distance from the listener. These speakers can be as simple as a few headphones or complicated as a huge theater audio system or concert set. Most modern devices capable of producing sound are designed primarily to employ stereo sound.
The human ear is designed to locate the sound source in the environment. One sound channel cannot deceive the brain to believe that it can find a sound source, but two or more sound channels can be combined to accurately create this effect. In stereo sound, sound signals produced by different audio channels are designed and recorded so that the brain naturally interprets itsH Combined signal as a sound from a particular source with a given spatial position.
originally, the stereo sound was recorded using two or more different microphones configured to record sounds in their positions, which are designed to match the ideal placement of playback speakers. This method is still used, with other permutations and equipment to record four or more audio channels for the sound of the theater quality. In many cases, however, a stereo sound version is now digitally produced, with computer software modeling sound from different positions. A similar process can be used to convert mono songs to stereo sound and is sometimes used to re -build older audio tracks.
Most modern media systems are designed for stereo sound, although AM radio is an exception to this general trend. This technology does not support stereo very effectiveTly, which leads to the dominance of talk radio radio in the AM spectrum. FM radio is generally transmitted in stereo because the medium effectively supports the stereo transmission of signal, which makes FM a more natural medium for music.
Stereo sound does not necessarily have a better choice than a mono sound. In some environments, such as overcrowded dance clubs or big concerts, the difference between stereo and mono for the audience may not be noticeable. Also, small or cheap audio systems may not be able to produce stereo sound that is significantly better than Mono. In most cases, the stereo sound is configured to provide the feeling of being in the actual sound space, but it cannot be organized so that most listeners can actually determine the location of individual sounds.
