What is Benchmarking Google® Analytics?
Benchmarking Google® Analytics is a process that has several aspects of the web compared to other places of similar size or category. The statistics considered include viewing of the page, the number of visits, the immediate abandonment and the length of the visit. New visits and number of pages shown during visit are also compared. The information is collected from sites who have agreed to have Google® collected, anonymize and then aggregate their web statistics with statistics of other participating websites.
The basis of a comparison that will be used for a website that participates in Google® Analytics Benchmarking depends on the user's preference. One method is to compare the website with those that have a similar level of operation. This was historically default for messages. Another is comparison of websites that fall into the same wide categories as travel, food and parenthood. This option can be clarified from the user's account settings.
Typical Google® Analytics Innonement NchmarkingDisplays the data for the current and previous periods. It will also provide a column that shows changes, if they exist, for each category from period to period. The report also shows the metrics of the pages divided according to the geographical area and the source of operation.
While Benchmarking Google® Analytics can be a useful tool, it also has a limited range. This is partly because data is provided by a limited number of websites. Information can also be deceptive depending on the number of websites in a particular category. Classification with hundreds of sites available for comparison will generally be more useful than those that have only tens of results. Therefore, the system value will usually depend on whether more or fewer users participate.
In order to participate in Google® Analytics Benchmarking, the user must log in to the program by allowing to have a mayonymized or rendered anonymous data shared. Google® provides more MoData sharing, including allowing access to information for the purposes of the development of new products in addition to benchmarking. The user can log in to the program from sharing data or benchmark sites in the account settings.
Google® Analytics Benchmarking Message was originally available on Analytics on the Company's website. This was changed when the company found that it was not a commonly used function. Google & Reg has removed it from the website and instead began sending information in a quarterly message.
