What is Unclaimed Freight?
Imported goods that have not been declared and paid for customs within 3 months from the date of declaration of import of the transportation means. The aforesaid goods can be picked up and sold by the customs. In addition to deducting the cost of selling the goods, the proceeds can be used to offset customs duties, other taxes collected by the customs, customs fines, transportation and miscellaneous expenses. If the balance is found to be no violations by the customs, the owner of the goods may be allowed to apply for refund to the customs within one year from the date of sale of the white goods. [1]
