What is a Spirometer?

A spirometer is a device used to measure the amount of air inhaled and exhaled by the lungs. It is the main device used for basic lung function tests (PFT). Pulmonary diseases such as asthma, bronchitis, and emphysema can be ruled out. In addition, spirometers are often used to find the cause of shortness of breath, assess the effects of pollutants on lung function, the effectiveness of drugs, and assess the progress of disease treatment.
