What is the water on the brain?
Brain water, known formally as hydrocephalus, is a neurological state characterized by the accumulation of cerebrospinal brain in the brain. This fluid usually brings nutrients to the brain and acts as a shock absorber to brain protection, but when weighing, it can damage the soft tissues of the brain and increase the pressure inside the skull, leading to a number of neurological problems. Hydrocephalus is the main cause of brain surgery in children and many people around the world live with this condition, some of which can live very successfully despite significant changes in their brain structure. Other cases are obtained, caused by brain damage such as stroke or traumatic brain damage. In both cases, the accumulation of the fluid can be clearly seen in the brain imaging studies and sequential studies can be used to determine how quickly the accumulation occurs. In the non -communicating hydrocephalus, the circulation of the fluid is blocked. Because the brain constantly produces its daily cerebrospinal fluid supplement, the water on the brain begins to cause a neurological PRrounded because it has no escape route.
In children, the earliest sign of hydrocephalus may sometimes be an expansion of the size of the head, caused by increased growth of the skull to adapt to the larger volume of the brain and cerebrospinal fluid. Brain water can also cause symptoms such as vomiting, nausea, vision problems, seizures, drowsiness and developmental delay. When these symptoms can be found in a patient, the physician may order a medical imaging study to look at the brain and learn more about what causes the patient's symptoms.
It is not possible to cure water on the brain, but the condition can be treated. The treatment involves inserting a short circuit into the brain to provide the drainage method. Shunt is a flexible plastic tube that is released to another part of the body that can reabsorb and finally express cerebrospinal fluid. The short -circuit placement must be done with caution to avoid brain damage and monitort short circuit to confirm that it is released correctly.
