What Is Bump Mapping?

Bump mapping refers to the visual effect of bumps on the surface in computer graphics through texture methods in a three-dimensional environment. Its main principle is to simulate uneven visual features, such as wrinkles, waves, etc., by changing the normal of the surface illumination equation, rather than the geometric normal of the surface. The main methods of bump mapping are: offset vector bump texture and changing height field.
