What Is a Coal Preparation Plant?

A coal preparation plant is a coal processing plant that separates coal to remove mineral impurities in raw coal and divides it into products of different specifications. It is called a coal preparation plant (or coal washing plant). The main products are clean coal and lump coal, as well as by-products such as medium coal and slime. The coal preparation plant is divided into: (1) coking coal preparation plant, which produces low-ash fine coal for coking. (2) Thermal coal preparation plant, which produces fuel coal for thermal power generation, steam locomotives, boilers, and raw coal for chemical industry. ^[1]

  The entire process of the coal preparation plant is described as follows:
 The raw coal in the coal storage yard is evenly fed into the raw coal belt conveyor through the coal feeder, and the raw coal is transported to the screening and crushing workshop by the belt conveyor.  Raw coal is sieved in a screening and crushing workshop through a garden vibrating screen with a sieve opening of 50mm. The + 50mm material is manually sorted into debris and extra large pieces of vermiculite and enters the crusher, which is crushed to -50mm, and is classified under the raw coal classification screen 50mm raw coal is transported to the main plant together.

  Raw coal is distributed in the main workshop by scraper conveyors into two raw coal buffer bins, and two chain coal feeders are fed into two jigs respectively.  Raw coal is sorted into three products: clean coal, medium coal and vermiculite in a jig. 

 After being dewatered by a bucket elevator, China Coal and Gangue will enter the China Coal Gangue silo respectively and be transported by the car as the final product.  Clean coal is classified and dewatered by a linear sieve with a sieve of 13mm, and -13mm under the sieve enters the pit for classification. 

  The 13-0.5mm final cleaned coal in the fishing pit is first dewatered by the bucket pit hoist in advance, and then dewatered by the centrifuge. After dewatering, it is used as the final product with the sieved block of clean coal, which is transported to the main plant by the belt conveyor Former coal storage yard.
 The overflow from the fishing pit enters the flotation feed tank, is pumped to the pulp pre-processor, and a foaming agent and a collector are added to the pulp pre-processor, and the slime water after dosing flows into the flotation machine by itself.

 -0.5mm slime is separated into two products: flotation clean coal and flotation tail coal in a flotation machine.  The flotation cleaned coal flows into the flotation concentrate pool and is pumped to the cleaned coal filter press for dehydration. The dewatered flotation cleaned coal is mixed with jigging clean coal as the final product.
 The flotation tailings flow into the tailings pond of the concentration workshop and are pumped to the thickener. The two thickeners are standby for each other to ensure that slime water is not discharged in the event of an accident in the thickener.

 The underflow of the thickener is dehydrated by a filter press located in the main factory building, and the filter press slime is transported to the main factory building for sale.  The overflow of the concentrator and the filtrate of the filter press flow into the circulating pool in the concentrating workshop, and are pumped to the jig for recycling.
 The low-pressure air for the jig is supplied by the blower through the air bag.  In the entire coal preparation plant, all the slime is recovered in the plant, and the washing water is circulated in a closed circuit. Under no circumstances is the slime water discharged.
