What is the medical uses of Tithonia diversifolia?

Bolivian sunflower or tithonia diversifolia is a giant relative of the Mexican sunflower, reaching up to 15 ft (5 m) and stretching up to 12 feet (3.6 m) wide. While popular as a rapidly growing ornamental in the regions where it can be grown, tithonia diversifolia was once one of the medicinal plants used by the nations of America. Historically, the plant was used in Mexico as a treatment of bones, bruises and sprains. After introducing into Tai -Wan and South China, the plant was incorporated into Chinese medicine, where it is still used to improve liver function, treatment of hepatitis and jaundice, help with night sweat, reducing water retention, lowering blood pressure, fighting athletes and combat cystitis. However, the administration of the United States Food and Drugs has not yet judged whether it is an effective treatment for these or other health conditions.
