What is a 12 -degree program?

The twelve steps program is self -help or support composed of people who share the same addiction or urge. The first and most popular of these programs is alcoholics Anonymous, but there are twelve step programs for many other addictions such as narcotics, gambling, overeating or nicotine. At these meetings, members commonly discuss what led them along the way to their addiction and what made them seek help. The program members will support those who have trouble and applaud those who win. Many of these meetings open up with a prayer. The rest of the meeting will include personal stories of different members of the program. The first step is to admit that he has a problem. While the steps may vary for any dependence or duties, the idea is the same. In addition to admitting addiction to someone, members must also own their past mistakes and make any necessary changes. This can mean an apology to anyone who has injured in the past.

Most twelve -degree programs, the most famous alcoholics of anonymous, are of spiritual nature. Although God is often mentioned in twelve steps, they are not considered religious programs. However, members are obliged to seek help in force majeure and atone for their sins. But this is not always. Because there are so many different programs for recovery and urge, there are different steps for each and some are not considered spiritual or religious.

In addition to encouragement of an addict to admit problems and correcting, twelve -year programs also encourage members to regain control of their lives and offer solutions and emotional support, so Willl avoid future temptations. Twelve -degree programs are not considered rehabilitation. Instead, they are considered “recovery” programs, as in getting life.
