What is a stick?

Swizzle Stick is a device used to mix mixed drinks, cocktails or any other drink that could benefit from thorough mixing. Many swizzle sticks are made of disposable plastic, but there may be several permanent forms of the whipping stick in the formal set of the bar.

Swizzzzle stick can pull out a double duty and act as a javelin and stick decoration. When serving certain mixed beverages, the bartender can verify the olive, pearl onion or slice of fruit on the wand, allowing the recipient to whirl the ingredients together in the glass. One theory of the original purpose of the swizzle wand suggests that the stick was used in West India to swirl ice and alcohol together. The result would be matt glass.

There is also a theory that suggests that Swizzle Stick was first used to mix the ingredients of a rum -based rum called swizzle. Although a drink called swizzle exists, there is no evidence that it is mixed with little mixing.
