What is an additional agreement?

Additional agreements are legally binding documents used to regulate contracts that are already valid. This type of document is sometimes used as a means for the existing agreement to remain in place with the same termination date, adding or removing some provisions or conditions to a working relationship. An additional agreement is often an ideal solution if there is no desire to negotiate a brand new contract to replace the current agreement.

The additional agreement has the advantage that it is possible to change the previous agreement with a relatively small effort. The usual process is the negotiation between the client and the provider to determine what changes agree to have a contract that is currently regulating their working relationship. Changes may include the modification of several terms under the current agreement or, if necessary, add a provision that covers a new service or product that the client wishes to start buying. With this approach remain any conditions and provisions that are not explicitlySouched in the text of the additional agreement, unaffected and are considered binding throughout the regulated contract.

While many businesses decide to create a new agreement and basically introduce an old contract into a new one, the additional agreement eliminates the need for this type of activity. In many situations, the creation of a new agreement also extends the duration of the contract, which is a factor that may or may not be pleasant to the customer. With an additional agreement, the duration of the contract rarely changes. Instead, the contractual terms that apply to the remaining part of the contractual period are changing without the customer committing to the longer term.

There are differences in opinions on the benefits associated with the accession agreement. Some finding is a useful tool in updating existing contracts without having to go through the process of basically starting a brand new agreement. Those who feel the model of the additional agreement is somewhat behindA careful tendency to point out that adding supplements to the existing contract can sometimes cause conflicts that lead to difficulties between the two parties, to confuse the content of the main agreement and the supplement. The creation of a new contract, according to those who do not prefer the accession agreement, minimizes the opportunity to confusion and helps maintain trust and confidence between the supplier and the customer.
