What are anti -dyroid antibodies?
AntiTyroid antibodies are a type of antibody produced by the immune system of people with a specific type of autoimmune disease. As a result of the production of antitithyroid antibodies, the immune system attacks thyroid cells, leading to impaired thyroid function and hypothyroidism. Some autoimmune diseases can cause the development of these types of antibodies.
Bursa-dependent lymphocytes, commonly called b lymphocytes, are cells of the immune system that create protein molecules called antibodies. These proteins are specifically focused on attaching foreign proteins such as protests from bacteria and viruses. The attachment of antibodies to proteins on bacteria or viruses makes pathogens vulnerable to destruction by other cells of the immune system.
In a healthy immune system, B lymphocytes generate antibodies that are only specific to foreign cells. Sometimes, however, the immune system becomes in a broken way that causes G lymphocytes generate antibodies to proteins in the body. ThyThe antibodies are called autoantibodies. Theoretically, almost any protein in the body can be targeted. In practice, some proteins become targets more often than others.
The reasons why the immune system becomes inoperative in this way is not well understood. One possibility is that it occurs as a result of an immune response to a pathogen. This theory suggests that some of the pathogen proteins resemble certain body proteins so carefully that antibodies generated to fight pathogen also respond against body proteins. At the end of the infection, the immune system can be triggered to attack on body proteins.
Some thyroid proteins are included in this category. The thyroid is a small gland located in front of the wind that produces hormones that regulate metabolism. Antithyroid antibodies tend to severely interfere with thyroid function, sometimes causing conditionscalled hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism. In hyperthyroidism, the thyroid becomes excessively active, causing symptoms such as unintended weight loss, rapid heart rate, tremor, anxiety, insomnia and fatigue. Hypothyroidism reduces thyroid activity, causes weight gain, fatigue, cold intolerance, hair loss, dry skin and constipation.
There are some specific autoimmune disorders caused by altim antibodies. It is Hashimoto's thyroiditis and Graves' disease. Hashimoto's thyroiditis, a type of chronic thyroid inflammation, is a common cause of hypothyroidism. Graves' disease causes hyperthyroidism and is the most common cause of thyroid excessive gland. These autoimmune thyroid disorders are diagnosed by tests to detect antitites of antibodies in the blood.
