What is hepatom?

Hepatom is sometimes called hepatocellular carcinoma. Both of these terms apply to a state usually known as liver cancer. There are two types of liver cancer. Hepatom is primary cancer. Metastatic liver cancer includes secondary infection. This means that cancer began elsewhere and later spread to the liver. Hepatocellular carcinoma is thus named because this type of cancer comes directly in liver cells, making it primary cancer. For example, hepatoma can be widely found in parts of Asia and Sub -Saharan Africa. Most cases occur in individuals who are 40 and 60 years old. It is generally fatal: many people do not live for more than a year after the status diagnosis.

The exact causes of this type of cancer are not known. However, it was found that where chronic hepatitis B and C and Cal have found that a large number of hepatoma cases are also generally found. It is assumed that the scarring of the liver - known as cirrhosis - caused by hepatitis B and C together with the family history of liver cancer mayincrease the chances of a person to develop hepatoma.

also found a strong association between this type of liver cancer and lifelong infection of hepatitis B. Those who acquire hepatitis B later in life may develop liver cancer. But it is less likely than for those who have had a virus all their lives.

liver cancer is often indicated by physical examination. The doctor can often feel that a human liver is swollen or hard. When the liver is pressed, suffering is likely to experience pain. In these cases, the blood test, CT scan and liver biopsy are commonly governed.

In many cases where hepatom is discovered, Beyoa has proceeded the moment when the operation is possible. It is generally believed that the best choice for those who have hepatoma is liver transplantation. In some cases, however, a single small tumor is found, the surgical removal of the tumor is proposed. Other treatment techniques include lobe removal JAter. These methods are often performed for pain relief and for slowing the progression of the disease, but are not real medicines.

The progression and hepatoma symptoms may vary. Many people who have this type of liver cancer suffer from pain and swelling of the abdomen. This pain can spread backwards. Suffering may lose appetite or start losing weight without explanation. Other symptoms include fatigue, fever and jaundice.
