What is allodynia?

Allodynia is a pain that occurs in response to a stimulus that is usually not painful. In a simple example of Allodynia, the patient can complain about pain after being gently brushed by his hand or several fingers. This increased sensitivity to touch is often associated with neurological conditions and states of chronic pain, including neuropathy, fibromyalgia and migraine. In patients it can be extremely frustrating. These stimuli are generally not considered painful and do not cause body injury, but the body shouts "pain" because it interprets these stimuli. Thermal alodynia is an extreme sensitivity to temperature changes. Again, temperature changes are not enough to damage the body, but are interpreted as painful.

This condition is considered to be caused by the confused messages of the intercell that interprets the feeling. Painful feelings are usually interpreted by nocroreceptors and for some reason these cells are involved if the information about these feelings normally was sent by different cells. Nocreceptors say mOzka that something harmful is experiencing and the brain interprets it as pain. When there is something harmful, this answer is required because it acts as a signal to solve a harmful stimulus. In the case of allodynia, however, the pain signals do not serve any function.

Allodynia can be treatment demanding. Patients with pain conditions sometimes have difficulty finding a doctor who recognizes their condition and who can take the time to perform testing to learn more about what can happen to cause increased sensitivity to touch. Unfortunately, patients with pain conditions are sometimes accused of being drug sees, and may face rejection of insurance benefits and other problems when trying to drive their conditions.

Because the cause of alodynia often cannot be cured, treatment focuses on its management. Analgesic drugs are used for boring pain, while doses are regularly adjusted, kDThe patient develops tolerance to these drugs. Once the cause is identified, medications for control of the cause may also be administered. Interestingly, there are a number of neurological conditions that can be recognized and diagnosed with drugs to treat these conditions, but doctors do not really understand how these drugs work in the body. This shows how much the scientific and medical community must learn about the human body.
