What is axonotmesis?

The nerve is a collection of fibers, similar to a structure to a cable that is responsible for providing a path for electrochemical impulses for traveling throughout the body. axonotmesis is a term used to describe serious nerve damage, is commonly observed in peripheral nerves, causing disruption of axon and myeline sheath of the nerve, but leaves the supportive structures of cells intact. The peripheral nervous system, or PNS, are auxiliary nerves that do not include the brain or spinal cord. Axon nerve is a thin projection stemming from the body of a nerve cell that transports the signals from the nerve. The myelin sheath is an electrically charged cover of the axon.

Axonotmes usually do not affect the frame of the connective tissue of the nerve, including the epineurium and the perineurium. epineurium is a hard outer protective layer of nerve containing blood vessels. Perineurium is a middle -class layer of connective tissue.

nerve injury axonotmesis isUsually maintained by serious bruise, also known as bruising or overwhelming injury. However, it may also occur in stretching injuries. Symptoms may range from pain to dysfunction, including paralysis. Paralysis can occur with engines, sensory or autonomous systems. Motor paralysis is an inability to move a muscle or muscle group. The paralysis of the sensory system disrupts the transmission of electrochemical nerve signals. The autonomic paralysis of the system prevents the regulatory functions of nerves that help in the body's ability to adapt to changes in the environment.

nerves have the ability to regenerate or repair if the damage is not excessive and the main part of the nerve remains intact. Depending on the severity of the nervous damage known as axonotmesis may or may not regenerate the nerves. The nerve -right may take several months because regeneration is a slow process. In some cases, electrical stimulation may accelerate the regeneration process.

initially, hospitalThe axonotmes protocol includes conservative measures such as treatment of pain and inflammation through analgesics and anti -inflammatory drugs; Administration of injuries such as support, measures of reinforcement or cast; and close observation to constantly assess the symptoms. Physical therapy can also be used to help relieve pain through specialized modalities such as ice and ultrasound. Comprehensive stretching and exercise regiment helps reduce protective muscle cramps and maintain the surrounding strength and flexibility of muscles.
