What Is Actuator Torque?
Pneumatic actuators are commonly known as pneumatic heads and pneumatic actuators (English: Pneumatic actuator). Actuators are divided into three categories: pneumatic, electric and hydraulic according to their energy forms. They have their own characteristics and are suitable for different occasions. Pneumatic actuators are a category of actuators.
- When compressed air enters from A nozzle
- Compact double-piston gear, rack-type structure, precise meshing, high efficiency, output
- Actuators are divided into three categories according to their energy forms: pneumatic, electric and hydraulic. They have their own characteristics and are suitable for different occasions. Pneumatic actuators are a category of actuators. Pneumatic actuators can also be divided into two types: single-acting and double-acting.
- To properly select the actuator, the following factors must be considered before installing a pneumatic / electric actuator to the valve.
- * Valve operating torque plus manufacturer's recommended safety factor / depending on operating conditions.
- * Air pressure or power supply voltage of the actuator.
- * The type of actuator is double-acting or single-acting (spring return) and output torque under a certain air source or output torque under rated voltage.
- * Steering of the actuator and failure mode (fault on or fault off).
- The correct selection of an actuator is very important. If the actuator is too large, the valve stem may be stressed. Conversely, if the actuator is too small, it cannot generate enough torque to fully operate the valve. Generally speaking, we believe that the torque required to operate the valve comes from the friction between the valve's metal parts (such as the ball core, the valve disc) and the seal (the valve seat). According to the use of the valve, the operating temperature, operating frequency, pipeline and pressure difference, flowing medium (lubrication, drying, mud), many factors affect the operating torque.
Selection example of spring return for pneumatic actuator
- Selection example of spring return actuator:
- Spring off (out of air)
- * Torque of ball valve = 80NM
- * Safety factor (25%) = 80NM + 25% = 100NM
- * Air source pressure = 0.6MPa
- The selected SY-SR actuator is SR125-05 because the following values can be generated:
- * Spring stroke 0o = 119.2NM
- * Spring stroke 90o = 216.2NM
- * Air stroke 0o = 228.7NM
- * Air stroke 90o = 118.8NM.
