What is lymph nodes dissection?

Lymph nodes or lymphadenectomy dissection is a surgical operation performed to remove lymph nodes for analysis in the laboratory. Lymph nodes will be examined for cancer and other diseases. It is usually performed as part of cancer treatment to determine the severity of the cancer. The removal of lymph nodes can prevent cancer spread in breast cancer, testicular cancer and prostate cancer. Other cancers that can respond well to the dissection of lymph nodes are lung cancer, bladder cancer and colon cancer. If all lymph nodes are removed, surgery is called radical lymph nodes. When only some of the lymph nodes are cut, the procedure is called regional lymph node dissection. A computer tomography (CT) or a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) test can be done to help the surgeon to plan aboutperation. The scans of the cancer can also help the surgeon in the planning of the autopsy.

During the procedure, the surgeon cuts the cut near the location of the lymph nodes, which is assumed that cancer is affected. The target lymph nodes will be removed and sewn. Some patients may need a drain that removes fluid that is collected under the skin from the healing lymph. Placing the outflow does not always affect the recovery time in the hospital and patients can return home with the drain on the spot.

dissection complications are lymphedema, abnormal accumulation of lymphatic fluid in tissues. This occurs because the lymphatic system is congested by fluid after removal of lymph nodes. The danger results from the possible spread of cancer cells through lymphatic fluid.

Other risks of lymph dissection dissections are excessive bleeding and infections at the site of surgery. IsPossible to have an allergic reaction to anesthesia used in surgery. A certain nerve damage may occur in the autopsy of lymph nodes in testicular cancer or prostate, which may lead to the inability of a person to obtain erection or ejaculation, resulting in infertility.
