What is the areola?

When used as an anatomical term, the "areola" may refer to any round area, but most often used to refer to a circular pigmented area around the human nipple. Although the areols are present in men, women, boys and girls, they are larger and usually darker in women. In the female breast, the areola indicates an area where the mammary glands are found. During lactation, milk is excreted through these channels. Other glands in the area appear as bumps in the skin. These glands, called montgomery glands, produce oils that help lubricate breasts during nursing. The shape may vary from circular to oval. In men, the areola average diameters about two inches in diameter. In women, the areola breasts may be relatively large, up to 4 inches (10.2 cm) or larger diameter, especially during pregnancy and lactation. Although the areola often increases during the PR, what lactation has stopped, it may sometimes remain large. The areola also often darkens the color during pregnancy due to hormonal changes. Similar changes in size and colorThey can also occur during puberty, but they are generally not so extreme.

There may be some problems and diseases that are specific to the backyard and nipple. These include Jogger's nipple and Paget's disease. Jogger's nipple is an unpleasant but easily treatable condition that occurs when nipples and courts are irritated by clothing during activities such as jogging. Many other activities can lead to Jogger's nipple, so it can also be referred to as Runner's nipple, bound nipple or even garden nipple. This can be prevented by carrying looser clothing or by carrying a compression vest while running or jogging to avoid rubbing clothing on the nipple.

Paget's Disease is much more serious. Symptoms include a rash that looks like eczema, itching and burning and often liquid outflows from the area. The disease is due to the formation of paget cells in the nipple. TY these cells are malignant and usually indicate the presence of breast cancer. Although it may seem like less inconvenience, it should be treated immediately. Paget's disease is in itself a form of breast cancer, so surgery, as well as chemotherapy and radiation treatment, is often necessary. If there is another basic breast cancer, this must also be solved through lumectomy or mastectomy.
