What is the solar tower?

The solar tower is a way to generate energy, using the temperature difference between air at Earth level and air at a significant altitude. One design to be built in Australia in 2006 is a high kilometer and would produce as much energy as a small nuclear reactor. Proof of the concept in Spain is 195 meters high and was able to produce up to 50 kW of energy. The solar tower is hollow, like a chimney, and extracts energy from hot air that rises rapidly to the top of the tower using turbines. The higher the tower, the more energy it is extracted. The tower works 24 hours a day because the country under the tower keeps the heat absorbed during the day and continues to release it at night.

It is assumed that the Australian solar tower will cost about $ 500 million and would be the highest artificial structure in the world, almost double the size of the CN tower in Toronto. Its construction would be carried out by Melbourne Enviromissions Limited with the support of the Australian government. It is estimated that the tower would produce 200 megawatts, enough electricityY to power 200,000 households and maintain almost a million tonnes of greenhouse gas from the atmosphere every year. The solar tower would be a massive landmark, visible from 80 miles away. It requires operation of only 15 technicians.

Solar tower is perhaps the most impressive proposed alternative to fossil fuels or nuclear energy. It would be an ideal stop to stop the human race by cheap strength until we develop fusion strength, improve cleavage, find a way to deploy large networks of solar panels or COMS with an even better idea to add the power we desire.
