What is a motor cortex?
The brain cortex is an area at the back of the frontal lobe that controls voluntary movement. Neurons in this area of the brain send signals on the spinal cord to the muscles to coordinate movements. The motor bark is divided into areas that represent the body areas, and neurons in each area correspond to movements in the related part of the body. The motor bark is also involved in learning and coordination movements.
The motor bark works in harmony with premotor areas in the frontal bark to plan and voluntary movement. It consists of Betz cells, special neurons that send axons down to the spinal cord. These axons communicate with the backbone neurons by synaptic transmission. Betz cells are the largest neurons in the central nervous system and are reflected in all layers of the bark.
Damage or lesions on motor cortex can lead to paralysis or difficulty with voluntary engine control. Ton will be on the contralateral part of the body so if the right side of the bark is damaged, the left side of you will be affectedLa. Damage to this area can also disrupt motor skills learning.
Central sulcus is a wrinkle in the brain that divides frontal and parietal lobes. Runs down in the middle of the brain. The motor bark is on the front of this abyss. On the other hand, there is a somatosensory bark that manages sensory information from the body.
neurons in the motor cortex send signals down axons located in the white mass of the cerebral. These signals continue to travel down to the brain stem, where paths in Medulle Oblongata pass and head to the contralateral side of the body. These nerve signals continue along the side corticospinal tract, where they connect to the lower motor neurons via interneururons or direct synaptic connections.
motor cortex can be mapped as a motor control of different parts of the body. "Homunculus" is a distorted representation of the body spread through the bark. Hand and arms areenlarged, indicating a finer voluntary engine control in these areas. In people who often do specialized engines, such as pianists, the fingers can be even greater. If the body undergoes main changes such as amputation, the representative map of the body on the bark will also change.
