What is Segway®?
SEGWAY® passenger transporter, also called ginger or passenger transport (PT,), is a two -round transport device related to the scooter. Segway®, a pioneer in 2001, is the invention of the American business dean of the stove, also known for its work on terrain electric wheel trucks. Some experts believe that Segway® is a revolutionary technology that changes traffic in the world, while others consider it a celebrated scooter of real uses only for technology fans.
The idea for the self -sufficient vehicle came from stone work on Ibot®, an electric wheelchair that can climb the stairs and balance on two wheels. The stove has also established Segway® systems on the leveling mechanisms of the human body. The device was premiered in the TV show Good Morning, America in 2001, and supporters claimed that it was as revolutionary as a personal computer or even a car.
The machine works on the basis of the rider's movements. Five silicon, gyroscopic sensors DThey etch the direction the rider leaned and sends signals to the machine machine. The loading in advance causes the device to go forward, lean back to it to be the other way around. The rotary movements are performed by turning the grip on the handlebars of the machine or in later models leaning in the desired direction. It also has a speed control mechanism, created to prevent the riders from lean too far and a predominant machine.
Segway® weighs about 86 pounds (39 kg,) and has a top speed of 12.5 miles per hour (20 km / h.) It runs on charged batteries and must be charged for about 8-10 hours per trip 15-25 miles (25-40). It has no brake system and as such is often considered an illegal road vehicle. Pedestrian safety concerns have led to bans and limits of use in several countries.
Two highly profile downloads may be damaged by the vehicle, although both problems were quickly solved. In 2003 wasThe device is dismissed because of the failure of the machine failure when the batteries fell. Fixed software was implanted, was able to feel a warning with low batteries and slowly stop as the batteries run down. In 2006, a mistake was detected that could cause the wheels to reverse suddenly, leading to several injuries. 23,500 vehicles were caused and the software has been added to face the problem.
Although originally designed for pedestrians similar to scooters or wheels, Segway® has developed several other uses. In France, Thailand and other countries, group tourism is often carried out on vehicles. Themed parks, police departments and postal offices piloted the use of Segway® as a company company. In film production, the vehicle gained popularity as a way of shooting notorious complicated tracking shots, allowing the camera to watch its movement path smoothly.
Despite the initial forecasts with Segway® did not sell as well as it was not expected. In the years 200Only 30,000 units were sold 1-2007. Since 2007, the price range starts at about $ 5,145 (USD), although advanced models are sold for up to $ 6175. The equipment has not yet submitted conventional forms of passenger transport, but after just a few years in production, it remains to see what its real impact on the vehicle market will be.
