What Is Virtual Prototyping?

A silicon virtual prototype is an accurate model of the final chip. It provides information about timing, power consumption, and die size, and it is constructed before the design is completed. In order to be a useful tool, silicon virtual prototyping must be provided to designers before the end of architecture and logic design. Silicon virtual prototyping tools need to use two key technologies, namely hierarchical design planning and silicon performance evaluation.
